Family Association Meets for 53rd Reunion July 11, 2004
Burbach – Purbaugh – Poorbaugh Annual Family Reunion
The Purbaugh – Poorbaugh Family reunion was held on July 11, 2004
at the Mt. Olivet Church picnic Grove, The noon meal began with a prayer offered by relative Ray Rhone and then all gathered for the covered dish meal. Pam Hetrick gave the secretary’s report from the reunion 2003. Minutes were read . Barry Garlitz then provided the treasures report with no additions or corrections and both reports were approved as read. Melissa expressed due to low attendance this year, officer elections will be tabled till a later date. Present officers will continue till new officers are elected. All in attendance applauded this. Dick Poorbaugh then provided a history book report explaining that this endeavor has been a lot more difficult than anyone ever imagined. He is in the process of trying to transfer the information on the “ Family Tree Maker” to enable this to be opened and read and then transferred to a book format. He also explained to the group that Allan Garlitz is in the process of scanning the “original” history book and this will enable to have reprints of the “original “ history book. The owners of the land, where Phillip Burbach is buried, asked if we could remove the fence and they would see that the area is mowed and taken care of. It was asked if any one would be interested in helping with this project to let one of the officers know. With no further business gifts were distributed to the following: Oldest female- Mary Thornburgh 89 Oldest male- Lee Poorbaugh – 87 Most Recent married – Jamie & Michele Delozier – 7 years Longest Married Couple- Mary & Elewood Garlitz – 52 years Youngest child- Kristen Paul –9 The meeting was then adjourned.
